From 1967-1968 at the Mount Hermon School (now known as Northfield Mount Hermon), a team game resembling ultimate was taught by Jared Kass, a creative writing teaching fellow and dorm advisor. In the fall of 1968, Joel Silver (who had been a summer camper at the Mount Hermon School), Buzzy Hellring, and Jonny Hines created the first set of written rules at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey.
